Taurus represents deception and destruction, especially relating to infidelity. (Is it any wonder when the constellation commemorates Zeus’s escapades disguised as a bull to steal the affections of Europa?) Over the course of the song the speaker changes from the deceived to deceiver and back to the deceived again. Each, however, picks up the chorus of repentance, having learned from past mistakes, and echoes the determination to “rise against, rise again” the destructive desires that so easily destroy. This is the second song of the Constellation Project.
Taurus – vincent h. anastasi (2018)
I have been deceived – dazzled by your beauty and your art
The white bull stalks the beach of the unsuspecting, undiscerning heart
I rode the rushing waves, lured away from shores I called my home
And I became a slave to the red-eyed bull that ravishes the soul
I have been disguised, but I feel the weight of all this supple skin
Watched by a hundred eyes, there’s no way to hide this wretched state I’m in
So now I’m on the run, goaded by the sting of all these lies
For sure the time will come when I’ll be exposed by fury’s vengeful spies
In my shame, I have caved but I learned from my mistakes
I’ll rise against, I’ll rise again each day
All the lies in masquerade will not shift me from my place
I’ll rise against, I’ll rise again each day
I have been destroyed, given all that’s best to Taurus in my time
Oh, what can fill the void that my reckless love has carved out deep inside
Is there any hope, some shoulders that can bear this weighty yoke?
Can anything atone for a fool who falls for mirrors and smoke?
In my shame, I have caved but I learned from my mistakes
I’ll rise against, I’ll rise again each day
All the lies in masquerade will not shift me from my place
I’ll rise against, I’ll rise again each day
Can’t wait to hear the music! I am sure that is not an option on a blog. . .?
